In many ways... the old time HYMNS are the Oral History of our Faith! Just like the Psalms in Scripture - they have been passed from generation to generation and sung in Cathedrals and Chapels... (And for many of us...) around a Family Piano! They are rich with Truth/Promise from Scripture - so we're gonna take a few weeks here at COC and talk about a few of those famous songs in a series we're calling "HYMNS" -- We'll be diving into a few of those Classic Hymns to explore their meaning filled with HOPE and hopefully illuminating the HOPE they still have for us today! Sunday Snapshot… (1) AMAZING GRACE

 

Ephesians 2… WE WERE / BUT GOD / BY GRACE (Amazing Grace!)

 

WE ARE ALL SINNERS - no way around it! (And...) Sometimes GUILT is the starting point for GRACE!

 

If we Don't/Won’t/Can’t ever see ourselves as a SINNER… we'll never be able to see our NEEDfor a SAVIOR!

 

Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound - that saved a wretch like me! I once was lost - but now am found; was blind - but now I see! (John Newton) -- You Were / But God / By Grace

SUNDAY SNAPSHOT (I’D LIKE YOU MORE IF YOU WERE MORE LIKE ME - 5)

“I’d Like You More If You Were More Like Me!” (Admit it… We have all thought that a time or two in life!) It’s because we ALL want meaningful relationships in our lives with people who are similar to us… don’t we? (But…) Sometimes we struggle to find those life giving relationships that other people seem to always have! (SPOILER ALERT) The Solution to finding those Deep/Meaningful and Life Changing type of RELATIONSHIPS – is NOT found in trying to make other people more like you! The answer is actually found in allowing God to use the people in your life to shape YOU into the better version of the YOU that He created you to be! (The bottom-line is…) WE WERE MADE FOR RELATIONSHIP! (So…) Because this idea is so vital to our existence – we’ve been talking about it the last Four Weeks here at COC and we’ll be wrapping it up This Week! Our Goal has been to maybe help you go a little deeper in your Current Relationships  and possibly help you find a few more that you never knew were available! Sunday Snapshot… (5) THE DEEP DOWN DARK

 

We are all made for COMMUNITY… and we SUFFER GREATLY without it!

 

We were CREATED for COMMUNITY... (Therefore…) COMMUNITY is NON-OPTIONAL! (Your life's not gonna work right without it!)

 

Food For Thought… Christian Community doesn’t mean we always get to be with people who are easy to be with!

 

The Real Power that’s feeding our LONELINESS is coming from our inability or lack of being VULNERABLE and HONEST!

 

The final breakthrough to True/AuthenticFellowship/Community will never occur without TRANSPERANCY and HONESTY!

 

It’s only when you’re FULLY KNOWN that you can be FULLY LOVED! (That's what BiblicalCommunity does!)
