SUNDAY SNAPSHOT (THE BIBLE FOR DUMMIES - 4)

As Children… Many of us received a little leather-bound book full of long words and difficult names we couldn’t pronounce! We were told that everything in it was true and we should do our best to live by its teachings... but then we grew up! (And…) What once was an oh-so-simple world… (Well...) it's not so simple anymore is it!? Perhaps that’s because we were taught The Bible Stories but not The Story of The Bible… and there’s a Big Difference! (So…) We started a New Series a few weeks back that we’ve been calling THE BIBLE FOR DUMMIES! (And…) We’re giving you a better way to maybe approach The Bible that begins with something other than “in the beginning…” (It’s A Can’t Miss Series!) So hopefully we’ll see you again IN-PERSON (9a) or ONLINE (9a/5p) this week at COC as we wrap up our Final Week!

Sunday Snapshot… (4) FOR THE WORLD!

If you don't know The Story OF The Bible… it's really easy to discount The Stories IN The Bible!

The Old Testament is INVALUABLE to New Testament Believers for APPLICATION and INSPIRATION! (Therefore…) New Testament Followers should read it accordingly - because Jesus didn’t come to Eliminate The Law – He came to FULFILL it!

Jesus' New Covenant/Command... (John 13:34) A NEW COMMAND I give you: LOVE ONE ANOTHER! As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By THIS… Everyone will KNOW that YOU ARE MY DISCIPLES… IF YOU LOVE ONE ANOTHER!

Jesus' New Command... LOVE ONE ANOTHER is scattered over/over throughout the New Testament! (I Wonder...) WHAT WOULD YOUR WORLD (THIS WORLD) LOOK LIKE - IF WE COULD "LOVE ONE ANOTHER" THE WAY HE COMMANDED?

The Reason Jesus' Story is Worth Telling is because it’s a STORY FOR THE WORLD… and it’s a STORY FOR YOU PERSONALLY!

Christianity and The Bible is the Result of an EVENT that actually happened… THE RESURRECTION! If there had been NORESURRECTION - there would be NO BIBLE!

Sunday Snapshot… (3) THE OLD TESTAMENT

The Old Testament that we have today... chronicles God's Redemptive Sequential Activity in History of The World!

The Prophet Isaiah (Isaiah 53) Predicted in Extraordinary Detail what would eventually be FULFILLED about 600yrs later… with JESUS ON A CROSS and RISING FROM THE DEAD!

The Old Testament Story of the Ancient Hebrews is like God wading into the fray and plays by the rules of the Kingdoms of This World… in order to usher in a KINGDOM "NOT" OF THIS WORLD!

The Entire Old Testament Story is Gritty and Powerful… and its History has a Divine Purpose and should be read for Inspirationand Motivation by New Testament Believers!

The Early Gentile Believers recognized in the Old Testament Scriptures that GOD… through His Son Jesus Christ… had done something NEW!

What you see most fascinating in the Old Testament is a GOD... who had FULFILLED His Old Covenant Promises to His Nation and to His People… and then had established a BRAND NEW COVENANT with His Nation and with ALL THE NATIONS OF THE WORLD! A COVENANT that JESUS would say… would be Instituted and Inaugurated IN HIS BLOOD!
